Our new paper is out in Nature

Our paper is out! We show how the human-specific modifier SRGAP2C alters the structure and function of cortical circuits and improves behavioral performance.

Using sparse monosynaptic rabies tracing in a new humanized mouse for SRGAP2C expression we find a selective increase in cortico-cortical connectivity.

With in vivo imaging we show that expression of SRGAP2C in cortical excitatory neurons changes their response properties to sensory input, and computational modelling shows that some of these changes can be explained by increased cortical connectivity.
And finally, mice humanized for SRGAP2C expression display improved learning behavior in a sensory discrimination task.

Many thanks to all authors!
